Your shade sail's load ends here: the D70 snap hook clips in, holds and releases in a single move. Certified DIN 5299 Form C, available exclusively in stainless steel, with a load capacity of 550 kg. Compared to the D60, the D70 is designed for installations requiring a significantly higher working load capacity — 550 kg versus 120 kg — and is available exclusively in stainless steel. A popular choice for demanding outdoor setups across British gardens and terraces, it combines Italian craftsmanship with outstanding performance.
It depends on the shape of your shade sail: a triangular sail uses 3 carabiners (one per corner), while a square or rectangular sail uses 4. Yes, the DIN 5299 Form C carabiner is a widely used industry standard. If your shade sail's eyelets and anchor points are compatible with a 70 mm carabiner, it will work with other systems too. Always check the dimensions before purchasing.
Choose the D70 when the shade sail is large, the installation is permanent in a coastal location, or the anchor points are subject to high dynamic loads (strong winds, shade sails over 25–30 m²). For the vast majority of standard installations, the D60 at 120 kg is more than sufficient.
DIN 5299 is the German industrial standard for snap hooks. "Form C" identifies the specific geometry: an open C-shaped body with a spring hook on the long side and a fixed eye on the other. This shape ensures load alignment and prevents accidental opening under tension.
The D70 is designed for installations where both high load capacity and long-term corrosion resistance are essential. Stainless steel is the only material that consistently delivers both properties.
550 kg is the Working Load Limit, calculated with a safety factor relative to the minimum breaking strength required by DIN 5299 standard.
No. The Wall Mounting Kit Muscle x3 includes a proprietary attachment system that is already integrated. For all other Maanta wall kits (EZ Wall Fix, Wall Mounting Kit Nautical Rope), the D70 is perfectly compatible.
Press the spring hook downwards with your thumb, insert the shade sail's eyelet into the opening and release: the mechanism closes automatically. To detach, press the hook again and slide the eyelet out. No tools required.
Made from stainless steel, the D70 requires very little upkeep. Check the spring action once a season to make sure it moves smoothly. In coastal areas with high salt exposure, a rinse with fresh water at the end of the season will help extend the life of the mechanism.
The 2-year statutory warranty covers manufacturing defects and non-conformity at the time of delivery. If the carabiner arrives with a faulty spring, structural deformations, or dimensions that don't match the stated specifications, get in touch and we'll replace it.
Report the damage to the courier at the time of delivery, then contact our customer service team with photos of the damage and the packaging. We will arrange a replacement. If the damage is not visible on the outside, you still have time to report it to us after opening the parcel.
